What would you do if you or a family member needed medical help, and your normal doctor was closed? If you answered ‘go to hospital’, you’re not alone. But while hospitals are the right place to go in a genuine medical emergency, there are often better options for more minor concerns – both for you or for our health system.

North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network is seeking to raise awareness of these other options, highlighting the health services that are available in the after hours period – before 8:00am and after 6:00pm weekdays, before 8:00am and after 12:00pm Saturdays, and all day Sundays and public holidays.

These might include GP practices that are open after hours, phone helplines such as Nurse-On-Call, and late-night pharmacy and nursing services available at Supercare pharmacies, among others.

NWMPHN is seeking tenders from organisations to plan and implement an after hours community awareness campaign , to help us spread the word about what to do when you need medical help after hours.

Tenderers should have extensive experience in community awareness campaigning, preferably in the government or not-for-profit sectors. Full information on the tender, including all documentation, is available at the NWMPHN Tenderlink site – https://www.tenderlink.com/mpcn/
