The Western Health Upper Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary General Surgical department is hosting a free GP information evening.

This interactive and informative session will involve case-study presentations and discussions focusing on oesophagogastric and hepatobiliary cases. This will be followed by an interactive panel discussion with members of the unit.

Learning outcomes:

  • Identify the criteria for referral and determine whether patients with gall bladder polyps should be monitored or referred onto specialist services
  • Interpret the findings of abnormal liver function tests in surgical patients and arrange appropriate follow up
  • Discuss the complications and management of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease symptoms and determine how patients are selected for surgery
