Are you a clinician working in an urgent care setting such as a priority primary care centre (PPCC), or have an interest in urgent care? This session will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in the diagnosis and management of paediatric rashes, ensuring the best possible care.

Rashes in children are common. Most are benign, a few are serious. All of them cause anxiety in parents and many can be challenging to identify . In this webinar session, we will cover common, serious and hard to diagnose rashes in the paediatric population.

This webinar will be delivered by Dr Sandy Hopper, an emergency clinician from Royal Children’s Hospital, and is designed for priority primary care or urgent care clinical staff, or clinical staff with an interest in this area.

Speaker

Dr Sandy Hopper is a dual qualified emergency physician and emergency paediatrician, working at the emergency department of the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. Having just clocked over 20 years of consultant work at RCH, he has just stepped down as director of paediatric emergency training, but remains passionate about bringing up the next generation of talent in the field. His research interests include mental health, procedural care, orthopaedics, hospital-in-the-home, observational medicine and consumer information.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe appropriate treatments and management strategies for various paediatric rashes
  • Identify when and how to refer to your local emergency department
