Supporting the workforce

The General Practice Paediatric Update (GPPU) is designed specifically for General Practitioners (GPs) and will provide practical paediatric education on a range of issues at the forefront of paediatric health and wellbeing. .

The program comprises interactive presentations and workshops from paediatric experts designed to update GPs on a number of paediatric issues relevant to general practice. There will be updates on recent changes in paediatric practice, allergy, enuresis, plagiocephaly, development and behavioural concerns in children and adolescents.

The Saturday afternoon program will consist of four parallel interactive workshops, which includes; paediatric gynaecology, ‘managing the acutely unwell child’, paediatric upper airway concerns of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) and Otitis Media (OM), unsettled infants and feeding difficulties.   
 

Learning outcomes:

At the conclusion of the GPPU, participants will be able to:

  • Identify evidence-based practice in common paediatric conditions, including recent changes in paediatric practice.
  • Describe appropriate referral pathways for a paediatric patients requiring specialist/tertiary care.
  • Discuss different assessments and management of paediatric patients with atopic conditions including; eczema, food allergy, asthma & anaphylaxis.
  • Summarise common management strategies for behavioural concerns in children and adolescents, including screen time and social media.
  • Access and apply clinical practice guidelines to manage common paediatric conditions.
