Supporting the workforce

In the current status of the current COVID-19 health emergency, this session is scheduled to progress as planned.

Should the advice from the Chief Health Officer escalate mitigations to minimise public gatherings, we have the option of making this an exclusive on-line event.

We will keep you informed of any changes as they become known to us.

VHHITAL invites local GPs and primary healthcare professionals to attend an evening update on Gonorrhoea, Syphilis and Chlamydia and PrEP in general practice.

Help combat the syphilis epidemic -
Rates of syphilis have almost tripled in Victoria since 2014. 37 cases were diagnosed in Melton and 53 in Brimbank last year.

Facilitated by Dr Melanie Bissessor, Sexual Health Physician- Melbourne Sexual Health Centre

  • Identify at-risk patients to screen and test for syphilis, gonorrhoea and chlamydia

***COVID-19 update to everyone registering for our training and events:***

The situation is continuing to evolve quickly. At present there are a small number of confirmed cases in Victoria and all our events will go ahead as planned.

Nonetheless, it is critical that we all remember the principles of infection control and take extra steps to guard against the spread of COVID-19:

  • WASH your hands often with soap and running water, for at least 20 seconds. DRY with paper towel or hand dryer.

  • TRY not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth.

  • COVER your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you don’t have a tissue cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow.

  • HAND SANITISER is available in all our meeting rooms. Please use this.

  • SHAKING HANDS is optional!

  • MAINTAIN at least 1 metre distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

  • DON’T ATTEND if you are sick or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms (fever, breathing difficulties such as breathlessness, cough, sore throat, fatigue or tiredness).

  • If you have any of the symptoms above and travelled overseas recently or been in close contact with someone who has coronavirus, visit dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus and follow the latest advice for the Victorian public.
