VCS Pathology is pleased to announce the launch of a state-wide campaign to raise awareness about the key role of Health Practitioners in supporting eligible Victorians aged 50-74 to take part in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (NBCSP). The campaign titled ‘Every Kit Counts’ encourages Health Practitioners to help their patients participate in the NBCSP.

Currently, only 43.5% of eligible Australians participate in the NBCSP. Modelling research shows that by increasing NBCSP participation to 60%, we can save 84,000 lives by 2040 (Lew et al. 2017). This campaign is being delivered in collaboration with Cancer Council Victoria, which will run a mass-media campaign including print and radio advertising aimed at Victorians aged 50-74 in regional Victoria.

Please contact Lena Elkman, Senior Project Officer, should you have any questions about the campaign. Thank you for supporting the goal to save an additional 84,000 lives through bowel screening – every kit really does count!
