The Newborn Behavioural Observations (NBO) system builds positive parent-infant relationships and supports infant development.
It helps parents adapt to their role and fosters sensitive, responsive interactions that promote the infant’s neurological and psychological growth.
The NBO includes 18 passive and interactive neurobehavioral observations of a newborn’s capacities and behaviour.
It is easy to learn and use and supports multi-disciplinary professionals working with families, from birth to three months.
A two-day, interactive, small group workshop will be held in March in Docklands to train professionals to use this evidence-based clinical tool in their practice.
The session will be led by:
- Ass.Prof Susan Nicolson, GP and Infant-Parent Mental Health Clinician, Royal Women’s Hospital
- Ms Danielle Atkins, Occupational Therapist, Hawkes Bay District Health Board, New Zealand
- Dr Natalie Duffy, Neonatologist, Mercy Hospital for Women.
