As you will be aware, the Department of Health and Human Services has recently published the 2017 Victorian Colonoscopy and 2018 Gastroscopy Categorisation Guidelines. All Victorian public health services are required to implement these mandatory guidelines.
Western Health has developed a new endoscopy referral form to enable us to comply with the requirement to triage patients according to the new mandated guidelines.
Further information regarding the new guidelines and our Direct Access to Gastrointestinal Endoscopy pathway can be found on our website. We appreciate your patience as we move to comply with the statewide standardised process for gastroscopy and colonoscopy referrals, while still retaining Western Health’s direct access capabilities via our ‘Direct Access to Gastrointestinal Endoscopy’ (DAGE) pathway.
This new referral form is to be used immediately. However we will continue to accept referrals on the previous RAGE form until 1st May 2019 when it will be phased out.
The new referral form is available on our website, in PDF and RTF versions (Best Practice, Medical Director, ZedMed) to replace the old form in your practice software.
