The Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) wants general practice and other primary health care workplaces around Australia to join its growing nurse placement program.

Looking to make the sector a first choice for nurses when leaving education, APNA organises all aspects of the program for host workplaces, allowing them to focus on sharing their know-how with the next generation of nurses.

There are several benefits for general practice and other primary health care workplaces offered by APNA as part of the program, which include:

  • Paying workplaces $50 per student, per day.
  • Offering flexible 2- or 4-week placements windows throughout the year.
  • Providing full support for nurses supervising students, including access to education tools and professional development.

The program, APNA says, allows workplaces to build a pipeline of prospective future employees.
