Healthdirect is now the official Telehealth platform in use at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital, Royal Women’s Hospital, and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
Unlike Skype, Healthdirect doesn’t require software downloads, registration or password set up. All you need is an internet connected device with camera and microphone enabled plus the Google Chrome browser. Healthdirect video calls can be made from mobile phones, tablet devices or desktop computers.
Simply visit the Royal Melbourne Hospital Telehealth Program website and follow the prompts to start a video-call.
You will need to provide the name of the patient and a phone number we can call in case the connection drops out. The information you provide is not stored and HealthDirect meets national data security requirements.
Through the RMH Telehealth Program website patients and carers are able to schedule a guided Telehealth test call prior to an appointment. The Telehealth Team can answer questions and illustrate in-call functions, giving you all the assistance you need for a successful video-consultation.
For all specialist Telehealth appointments with the RMH, the new way to connect is through the Royal Melbourne Hospital Telehealth Program website, which offers further information on equipment requirements and eligibility.
