Health Care Homes FAQ #3 – Will nurses need to do more training to provide care in a Health Care Home?
The short answer is maybe – it will depend on what level of “Health Care Homeness” your practice is already working at.
Many general practices are already performing at a level similar to the Health Care Homes model of care with nurses working to the top of their scope, managing patient care and having independent appointments with their patients. These nurses will require less training. Other nurses are still working in a more traditional model of care, and will need some further up-skilling. North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network will be providing opportunities for nurse training and will be seeking nurses who are already practicing in the HCH model to share their experiences.
