Across the holiday period data shows that there is a spike in family violence incidents.
GPs and other general practice staff are often the first people to whom family violence victim-survivors disclose their trauma.
While many health care organisations close or limit services during this period, the demand for family violence care and support increases.
During the holiday period, therefore, it is vital that information on available supports, emergency assistance and resources is available to anyone trying to contact your practice.
Please make sure that family violence services are listed prominently on your website and contained in outgoing telephone messages.
