Victorian Primary Health Networks are collaborating with the Victorian Government to help people access assessment for respiratory symptoms, testing and treatment close to where they live.
In October 2021 the Victorian Government announced that 20 new GP Respiratory Clinics will be established across Melbourne. 11 of these clinics will be in the North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN) region. The other 9 will be in the Eastern Melbourne PHN and South Eastern Melbourne PHN regions.
Following an expression of interest process, NWMPHN is now working with providers to establish the 11 clinics in our region. The location and further details about these clinics will be published on this page once they are confirmed.
The new GP Respiratory Clinics will complement other COVID-19 testing sites including Australian Government-funded GP Respiratory Clinics, hospital respiratory clinics, drive-through and pop-up clinics.
The Victorian Government has funded these 20 clinics until 30 June 2022.
When will the clinics open?
We are currently working with providers to establish the clinics including finalising contracts, establishing the workforce and facilities. We expect some clinics to begin operating in December 2021 with the remainder to follow in January 2022.
Who can access these clinics?
The clinics will support adults and children with respiratory symptoms to access a comprehensive respiratory assessment (including COVID-19 testing) and receive immediate support in management of their illness.
Services will be available to people with or without a Medicare card, at no cost to the patient.
The clinics will be open after hours and on weekends.
