Webinar

Palliative care

Find out more about voluntary assisted dying (VAD), the potential impact on bereavement, and considerations for your practice.

In this session, panel members and the Voluntary Assisted Dying Care Navigators will share their experiences of supporting individuals and their families through the process, including post-death bereavement support. They will discuss important considerations in this emerging area of practice, including: the experience of the assessment process and impacts on family and carers, what a voluntary assisted death looks like, transition from carer to bereaved and VAD implications pre and post death, potential grief and bereavement implications, and professional and personal considerations for your own involvement in VAD.

This webinar is part of the Winter series - the VAD navigator service is re-running recent popular webinars. Each webinar includes a recorded panel discussion and will be facilitated by one of our navigator service team with live online chat and Q&A throughout.

After registering, you'll receive a Zoom link 2 days before, then again 2 hours before the webinar starts.

Panel:

  • Meg Moorhouse, social worker and bereavement counsellor, Melbourne City Mission Palliative Care
  • Jane Fletcher, health psychologist, Melbourne Psycho-oncology Service
  • Dr Corry de Neef, physician, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre
  • Laurie Draper, clinical nurse consultant, VAD navigator service

This webinar was run in partnership with the North and West Metropolitan Region Palliative Care Consortium.
