Trauma-informed Practice with Newly Arrived People from Afghanistan in GP Practices

This workshop offers GP practice staff (doctors, receptionists, practice managers, allied health practitioners) working with people from refugee and asylum seeking backgrounds an understanding of the challenges facing newly arrived Afghans, and an awareness of the potential impacts of recent events in Afghanistan on those with a history of traumatic experiences, including longer-term residents from Afghanistan.

Historical and current contexts, and the key principles of Trauma-Informed Practice and the Foundation House Trauma Recovery Framework, will be explored and considered in relation to promoting client recovery.
