Dr Liz Sturgiss from the REACH Project invites you to share your ideas on how to have better conversations about alcohol use in general practice.

Many people drink more alcohol than is good for their health and want to cut down on their drinking. A 'brief intervention' is when a trusted GP or practice nurse talks about alcohol use with a patient and gives advice on how to reduce the associated health risks associated. Although brief interventions have been shown to work well, GPs and nurses may find it difficult to have these conversations.

The REACH Project aims to understand how clinicians can be better supported to provide brief interventions for alcohol in general practice. Phase 1 of the project is to collaborate with patients and practitioners to design a new approach to increase the uptake of brief interventions for alcohol use in general practice.

If you're a GP, practice nurse or practice manager, come along to this meeting to share your thoughts and ideas about how to improve alcohol screening and approaches to brief interventions in general practice.
