Suicide is the number one cause of death for people aged between 15 and 44 in Australia. Many people experiencing suicidal thoughts or behaviour visit their GP in the weeks or days before suicide. This means that GPs can play a vital role in suicide prevention. PLEASE NOTE THIS SESSION IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE IN PERSON. ONLINE ONLY
This breakfast and learn session will provide GPs with the skills and knowledge to effectively manage suicidal ideation and high-risk patients in general practice.
It will also educate GPs on management and referral pathways for high-risk patients, once they have identified that a patient is suicidal.
