Overview
North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN) commissioned the Cairnmillar Institute, a psychology and counselling training organisation which specialises in psychological and trauma counselling, to facilitate a specialist training program for clinicians. It focused on “Chronic Suicidality and Self-Harm in Borderline Personality Disorder: Managing the Risk” and aimed to increase the capacity of clinical professionals to deliver evidence-based treatment for people at risk of suicide in the Melton and Brimbank communities.
The commissioning supported providers of psychological therapy and community mental health services to provide best practice therapeutic interventions when working with people at risk of suicide.
This activity was part of the Melton and Brimbank Place-Based Suicide Prevention Trials.
Outcomes
Cairnmillar Institute delivered a one-day training program called “Chronic Suicidality and Self -Harm in Borderline Personality Disorder: Managing the Risk” to 20 health professionals who provide clinical services to the Melton and Brimbank communities.
