This quality improvement activity guide was developed using findings from the Improving Childhood Asthma Management (ICAM) pilot program in Melbourne’s inner west.

This activity has been developed in partnership with SaferCare Victoria, Asthma Australia, Royal Children’s Hospital, National Asthma Council Australia (NAC) and cohealth.

Goal
Increase the number of children with asthma who have had a 6-monthly asthma review.
Measures
Record the number of asthma reviews conducted in x weeks/months.
Improvement ideas
  • Develop a consistent approach to conducting children’s asthma reviews.
  • Add a recall or reminder to invite patients who are eligible for an asthma review.
  • Provide upskilling opportunities for practice staff.
  • Undertake health promotion activities.
