The North Eastern Public Health Unit (NEPHU) warmly invites you to join our upcoming webinar on antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
The NEPHN-HP Public Health Clinical Series aims to bring together clinical stakeholders (across community, primary and tertiary health services and residential facilities) within North-Eastern Melbourne to discuss topical public health issues in an interactive format.
Topic in focus: Antimicrobial Resistant (AMR) Organisms
The number of infections due to AMR organisms has been increasing in Victoria in recent years. Stay informed about the latest recommendations for preventing infections with AMR organisms within your community.
This webinar will provide information that will support clinicians managing patients who are infected with or carrying (“colonised”) AMR organisms, as well as strategies to prevent AMR developing.
The event, hosted by Dr Annaliese van Dieman (Public Health Physician and Director, North Eastern Public Health Unit) and featuring special guests Dr Stephen Guy (Infectious Diseases Physician and Director of Infectious Diseases, Eastern Health) and A/Prof Norelle Sherry (Deputy Director, Microbiological Diagnostic Unit Public Health Laboratory), will feature presentations on topics including;
- Risk factors and recent state and local trends in AMR epidemiology
- What happens when a patient is diagnosed with a notifiable AMR organism.
- How to manage patients who are infected with or colonised with AMR organisms in the community and in residential settings
- How to prevent AMR through best practice prescribing.
The event will be interactive and questions or comments are welcome.
