North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN) is seeking suitable general practices to participate in the Victorian Government’s Doctors in Secondary Schools (DiSS) program.
DiSS funds doctors and nurses to deliver primary health care directly within 100 state government schools. The positions are paid, with travel and in-clinic consumable costs covered.
The program is an important part of the wider health system, and an asset for schools, staff, students and parents. It is also a unique opportunity for participating GPs and nurses, allowing them to become part of the school community.
There are currently vacancies for GP-nurse teams at Sunbury College and Bacchus Marsh College.
The opportunity will be to provide GP services (between four and six hours) and aligned practice nurse support (one day) each week during school terms.
Participants are trained in adolescent health and wellbeing at no cost, supported by NWMPHN, and work with school staff and wellbeing teams to deliver the program in a purpose-built facility.
The DiSS teams for Sunbury and Bacchus Marsh will be commissioned by NWMPHN, which services 20 schools within its region, plus manages the statewide program.
To find out more about the opportunity, refer to this document: Request for Information DiSS July 2026 (.pdf).
