Voluntary Assisted Dying training for medical practitioners - Parkville

Join colleagues for a dedicated day to complete the mandatory voluntary assisted dying (VAD) training. On completion, you will be able to provide assessments for your patients seeking VAD and participate in VAD to the level you feel comfortable.

This study day enables you to complete the mandated VAD training in the most effective way possible, with input from statewide services and medical colleagues.

You will meet with local VAD clinicians and be supported by the VAD Navigator service as you work through the mandated online modules, with a regular summary of key points provided through the day.

You will gain insight into the personal and professional experience of participating in VAD through discussions with VAD clinicians, and will meet with the statewide VAD support team, including members from the Secretariat, Review Board, pharmacy, and the navigator service.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

If you cannot join us in person, online participation is also available.

This event is open to medical practitioners who hold Fellowship of a medical college or vocationally registered general practitioners (VR GPs) practicing in Victoria.

This activity is approved for 9.5 RACGP CPD hours (including pre-session completion of modules 1 & 2) – 7.5 hours Education Activities and 2 hours Reviewing Performance.

• Outline Victoria’s voluntary assisted dying legal framework  
• Explain the requirements of a coordinating or consulting doctor in providing VAD assessments 
• Describe the role of the VAD statewide services and where to get help and support in providing VAD assessments
