North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN) is pleased to announce that our request for tender for a new headspace centre in Melton is now open.

The successful tenderer will lead the delivery of crucial early intervention services to 12 – 25 year olds to help them manage mental health, and other related issues including alcohol and other drug use in the region.

NWMPHN CEO Adj/Associate Professor Christopher Carter said the new centre will provide a much-needed boost for youth mental health in Melton.

“Melton has the highest rates of psychological distress of any local government area in Victoria, with 20.7% of people reporting high or very high psychological distress – nearly double the state average.” A/Prof Carter said.

“Behind the scenes, NWMPHN has been doing crucial work to make sure the service meets the specific needs of young people and is fully integrated with other health services in the area.” A/Prof Carter said.

“Having a new mental health service that is linked with local GPs, community health centres, and other existing services will help make sure vulnerable young people will get the right help, at the right time.” A/Prof Carter said.

The Melton headspace will enhance the headspace network across Melbourne’s north and west, joining five existing centres in Glenroy, Sunshine, Werribee, Craigieburn and Collingwood.

A tender information session will be held on Tuesday, 10 October from 2pm to 3:30pm at Melton Library. Details on how to register are available below.

Tenders close on Wednesday 8 November 2017, with an expected launch date for the new centre in mid 2018. To find out more, or to apply visit Tenderlink, tender reference number MPCN-784456. If you have any issues accessing this tender, please contact tenders@nwmphn.org.au.
