The burden of iron deficiency anaemia in the community can be far reaching.
It can lead to time off work, a decline in daily function and reduced planned physical activity.
The Royal Melbourne Hospital has developed a Rapid Access Iron Clinic to streamline the referral and ongoing care of patients with iron deficiency and iron deficiency anaemia.
Patients will generally be booked into the clinic and receive their iron infusion within two weeks of referral.
