Calling for consumers to join Peter Mac’s Consumer Register

Peter Mac is Australia’s only public hospital solely dedicated to cancer treatment, research and education. It’s where more cancer patients are treated each year than any other hospital in Australia and where the largest cancer research group in the country is housed.

What is Peter Mac’s Consumer Register?

The Consumer Register consists of a group of people who are interested in taking part in a variety of activities at Peter Mac to provide input into planning, design and delivery of cancer care from a consumer perspective.

Who can join the Consumer Register?

Consumers may be past or present patients, carers, family members or representatives of the wider community.

What sort of activities can I be involved in?

Participation may involve becoming a member of a committee, participating in working groups or cancer-specific projects, reviewing patient information, such as brochures, fact sheets, DVDs and website information, or sharing your views and experiences by participating in interviews and surveys.

How much time do I need to commit?

This will depend on your role as a consumer. This may include attending regular meetings, to occasionally reviewing patient-related information via email.

As this is a voluntary position, many of our consumers are involved in the review of patient information, which they are able to do from home at a time that suits them.

How do I get involved?

Please contact Peter Mac’s Consumer Engagement Office on (03) 8559 7518 or commparticipation@petermac.org with any questions or to obtain an application form.

Together we make a great team!
