GPs can now claim an extra $56.75 for vaccinating vulnerable patients at their home or in a residential disability or aged care facility.
This funding is on top of the rebates for administering COVID-19 vaccines, which range between $30.75 and $49.50 for the first dose depending on rurality.
The funding is available for patients who are unable to physically attend the medical practice because of a medical condition, disability, dementia or frailty or those living or working within a residential care facility. GPs will still be required to bulk-bill patients for the visit; however, there is no ‘existing relationship’ requirement to access the item.
