cohealth are currently offering the GLA:D® and other similar hip and knee osteoarthritis (OA) programs at their different sites, including Footscray and Braybrook.
All our groups include education and exercise sessions, based on leading research from Denmark and worldwide. It is aimed at people with hip or knee osteoarthritis symptoms and has a focus on reducing pain and increasing function. The program has also been shown to improve outcomes and quality of life in those currently on surgical waiting lists for joint replacements.
All participants in cohealth’s hip and knee OA programs benefit from a one-on-one assessment by a physiotherapist and are then supervised in twice weekly exercise sessions for the duration of six weeks. Two additional educational sessions during the six-week program will help individuals understand and learn how to self-manage their osteoarthritis. Additional benefits of participating in a cohealth exercise group include support for those from non-English speaking backgrounds as well as assistance to find ongoing exercise options on completion of the program.
Our waitlist is currently short and patients can be easily referred through the cohealth website.
