My Health Record sessions for clinical software users
These one-hour sessions are aimed at GPs, specialists, practice managers, practice nurses and Aboriginal health workers interested in learning more about My Health Record and how to use it most effectively in routine practice. Using a software simulation platform, the instructor will demonstrate how to:
- access your patients’ My Health Records in your software;
- use filters to find documents;
- view documents and overviews;
- understand how to view immunisation history in My Health Record
- enter access codes for patients with protected documents/records;
- upload documents to My Health Record; and
- ensure appropriate security and access governance mechanisms are in place.

Implementing a My Health Record policy in your organisation
In this session, you will learn how to implement and maintain a My Health Record Security and Access policy in your organisation. Understand the importance of the Responsible Officer (RO) and Organisational Maintenance Officer (OMO) roles in completing and maintaining the policy. The instructor will demonstrate the required information to complete a policy using a sample template.
Upon completion participants will be able to:
- understand the legislative framework for accessing My Health Record
- understand the roles and responsibilities of Responsible Officer (RO) and Organisational Maintenance Officer (OMO)
- create and maintain security and access policy for My Health Record
- manage My Health Record user accounts and training registers
- understand responsibilities of practice staff accessing the My Health Record system
- understand the importance of Health Identifiers and correct system configuration.

Introduction to My Health Record
This session is designed for healthcare providers with no prior experience of using My Health Record. Join this webinar to learn more about the benefits of having access to clinical information through My Health Record. This session will provide you with an overview of key clinical documents and outline access controls and notifications which can be set for My Health Record by patients. The session will include a short demonstration through a clinical software system and provide an opportunity to ask questions.
Learn how to use My Health Record: for pharmacists
This session is aimed at pharmacists and pharmacy staff interested in learning more about My Health Record and how to easily access the system and find clinical documents. Using a software simulation platform the instructor will demonstrate available features of My Health Record, including how to:
- access a patient’s My Health Record
- use filters to search the record
- view documents, immunisation history, medicines and Medicare information
- upload documents to my health record
- learn how to enter an access code in a locked or restricted record; and
- understand security and access governance.
This session will afford an opportunity for participants to raise questions directly with the instructor and to discuss other issues encountered in using My Health Record. If you cannot find a session time that suits you, we may be able to provide an out of schedule session to accommodate you and your staff.
National Provider Portal
This one-hour CPD accredited session is aimed at clinicians and support staff such as allied health providers, specialists, community health nurses, Aboriginal Health Care workers and consultant pharmacists who do not currently have access to conformant clinical software and access My Health Record via the National Provider Portal (NPP).
Sessions will demonstrate how to:
- log into the Provider Portal via PRODA
- use filters to find documents
- view documents and overviews
- understand how to view immunisation history in My Health Record
- enter access codes for patients with protected documents/records
- download documents to local systems; and
- ensure appropriate security and access governance mechanisms are in place
This session will afford an opportunity for participants to raise questions directly with the instructor and to discuss other issues encountered in using My Health Record. Practice manager compliance sessions
These one-hour sessions equip practice/pharmacy managers and administrative staff with a sound knowledge of how to implement and maintain policies and procedures to govern access to the My Health Record within their organisation. Upon completion participants will be able to:
- understand the legislative framework for accessing My Health Record;
- create and maintain security and access policies for My Health Record;
- manage My Health Record user accounts and training registers;
- understand the importance of Healthcare Identifiers and correct system configuration;
- designate roles and responsibilities for practice staff engaging with My Health Record;
- understand when and how to access information contained within a consumer’s My Health Record.
This activity is CPD accredited for practice managers by AAPM and NAATSIWHP.
My Health Record aged care case study
My Health Record provides clinical information uploaded by a range of providers (GPs, hospitals, pharmacists), which may facilitate care coordination, reduce potential medication misadventures, and ultimately improve health outcomes. This webinar will explore the benefits of using My Health Record through a case study demonstrating how aged care healthcare providers may use the various clinical documents in everyday workflow/practice.

Using the Agency’s training environment, the instructor will demonstrate how to upload dispense records and view clinical documents including a range of medicines information, for the purposes of medicines reconciliation and also ensure effective care delivery. Pharmacists and other staff who may access My Health Record are welcome to attend this interactive session.
