Welcome to the Wesley LifeForce Suicide Prevention Workshop happening on Wednesday 29th January 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Glenroy Community Hub. Join us for an informative and interactive session aimed at raising awareness and providing tools to help prevent suicide.
This workshop has been contextualised for Refugee and Asylum Seeker communities in collaboration with refugee support services and is recommended for all community members aged 18 years and older. The stigma surrounding mental health and suicide can be deeply rooted, and this contextualised training helps address this and acknowledges the diversity of human experiences and ensures that interventions are respectful, relevant, and impactful within different settings.
Overall training goals:
Participants will have increased confidence in their ability to:
- Identify people who may be at risk of suicide
- Communicate appropriately with a person experiencing suicide distress
- Ask a person if they are considering suicide
- Connect the person with appropriate supports
Ensuring participant safety
Our workshop material is:
- Specifically designed with participant safety in mind
- Vetted by MindFrame, an Australian Government body that provides expert advice to the suicide prevention sector
NB: This workshop may not be suitable for those recently bereaved by suicide
