Endocrine and haematological conditions in pregnancy

In the second of two Shared Maternity Care Workshops:

Dr Jessica Deitch will discuss the screening and management of common perinatal endocrine disorders. This includes when to screen for thyroid issues, management of hypothyroidism, subclinical hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism in early pregnancy and postpartum thyroiditis. The presentation also covers early and routine screening for gestational diabetes mellitus, effective treatment and its benefits, and long term follow up of women.

Dr Vanessa Mannitta will cover haematological issues that are common in pregnancy and important to identify and manage appropriately. This presentation focuses on:

• Iron deficiency anaemia and non-anaemia iron deficiency

• Haemoglobinopathies (e.g. thalassaemia)

• Low platelets

• Venous thrombosis (risk identification and management)

Be sure to register for both webinars sessions.
