Virtual Fracture Clinics – improving fracture care for patients

Join us for an evening of interactive learning and conversation, delivered by senior members of the Orthopaedic Trauma team at one of Victoria’s major trauma hospitals.  Find out all the latest in best-practice fracture management through a series of consultant-led presentations and case studies.
 

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand how the Virtual Fracture Clinic runs, and the implications for GPs and patients
  • Support and Educate patients through the early stages of simple fracture healing, based on ‘condition specific pathways’ developed by orthopaedic surgeons
  • Identify and interpret common signs of healing on a post fracture X-ray
  • Demonstrate use of simple slings, splints and braces
  • Have your fracture management questions answered by Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeons

Associate Professor Andrew Bucknill
Bsc, MBBS, Msc (dist), FRCS (Tr & Orth), FRACS
Head of Orthopaedics, Royal Melbourne Hospital
Associate Professor, University of Melbourne

Head of the Orthopaedic Unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital,  A/Prof Bucknill has an interest in hip and knee surgery as well as pelvic trauma.  Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne, he is active in research and teaching, reviews scientific articles for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and is a faculty member on the internationally-renowned AO courses for fracture management.

Mr. Thomas Treseder 
MBBS, FRACS (ortho)

Mr. Treseder is an orthopaedic surgeon practicing at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Melbourne Private Hospital and Parkville Orthopaedics.  He has subspecialty training in the areas of orthopaedic trauma reconstruction and upper limb orthopaedics.  He has practiced as an orthopaedic surgeon at the Alfred Hospital and Royal London Hospital in addition to his current roles.  He is a lecturer and examiner at the University of Melbourne Medical School. Tom is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons. The Australian Orthopaedic Association and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and the European Wrist Arthroscopy Society.  He has multiple international publications and presentation awards in the areas of rotator cuff injury and periscapular nerve dysfunction. 
 

Mr. Andrew Oppy
MBBS, FRACS (ortho)

Andrew Oppy is an orthopaedic surgeon with a specific interest in the orthopaedic management of all trauma injuries and their sequelae. Andrew grew up and attended school in Melbourne before finishing his medical degree at Monash University in 2000. He became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons after completion of his Orthopaedic Surgery training with the Australian Orthopaedic Association. In addition, Andrew completed 2 further years of fellowship training in orthopaedic trauma surgery, limb reconstruction and pelvic/hip trauma surgery in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Robert Vragovski
Senior Orthopaedic Technician

Rob is the senior certified Orthopedic Technologist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, he is also certified in the USA. He has worked for over 20 years in a casting role, currently at Royal Melbourne Hospital.  He runs casting workshops nationally and internationally. He lectures at LaTrobe University and Monash University and has presented plastering workshops to GPs rurally and regionally. He is the treasurer of AIOT and member of NAOT (National American Orthopedic Technologists).
