The North Eastern Public Health Unit (NEPHU) warmly invites you to join our upcoming webinar on Avian Influenza. The NEPHN-HP Public Health Clinical Series aims to bring together clinical stakeholders (across community, primary and tertiary health services and residential facilities) within North-Eastern Melbourne to discuss topical public health issues in an interactive format.

Topic in focus: Avian Influenza

Avian influenza is widespread in wild birds globally and has caused outbreaks in poultry farms overseas and in Victoria, with several human cases reported in poultry workers overseas. This webinar will provide information that will support clinicians to diagnose, test for and prevent bird flu. Hosted by Dr Annaliese van Dieman (Public Health Physician and Director, North Eastern Public Health Unit), the webinar will feature presentations on topics including:

- Current epidemiology of avian influenza including H5 bird flu

- Risks of human transmission internationally and in Australia

- Clinical presentation of avian influenza

- How to safety test for avian influenza

- Pandemic management of avian influenza in the event of human to human transmission

The event will be interactive with time for questions and comments. Register via the NEPHU Mailing list subscription form selecting 'Health Protection North Eastern Public Health Network (NEPHN-HP)'.
