Overview

Reconstructing Life after Dependency (RLAD) is a six-month program delivered by VincentCare that aims to support adult clients to maintain abstinence, obtain housing and re-establish their lives in the community following residential rehabilitation. It is targeted at people who are cis-male or trans-male and have comorbidities of homelessness and alcohol and other drug use.

RLAD offers individual counselling, group work, case management and care planning, early intervention, brief intervention and psychosocial services.

Outcomes

  • Supported transitionary pathway: Embedded evidence-based and trauma-informed service delivery provides a supported pathway for individuals transitioning into community between VincentCare’s rehabilitation and housing programs, Quinn House, Ozanam House, and people referred from other services.
  • Safety and inclusivity: Provided a safe and inclusive service for members of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and LGBTIQ+ communities.
  • Psychosocial development: Supported client psychosocial development to strengthen the longevity of their recovery journey.
  • Psychosocial funding grant: The program received two rounds of psychosocial grants for 2023-24 and 2024-25. This is designed to enhance the capacity of the AOD program, specifically to support individuals with psychosocial issues and AOD comorbidities.
