Overview

Head to Health logoHead to Health provides advice and a welcoming place for everyone who needs mental health and wellbeing support. It is available to all Victorians of all ages, regardless of whether their mental health issues are pre-existing or emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Head to Health service comprises a statewide central intake and more than 20 mental health hubs across Victoria, including three in North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network’s (NWMPHN’s) region. NWMPHN commissioned existing health care providers to operate the three hubs, which are in Wyndham Vale, Broadmeadows and Brunswick.

Head to Health provides care navigation, access to a multidisciplinary mental health team at the hubs and a team-care approach, to complement and supplement GP care.

Head to Health is part of NWMPHN building a better-connected mental health system in the community. Head to Health is a collaborative initiative of the Victorian Primary Health Networks and funded by the Australian Government.

Outcomes

A statewide telephone intake service and a network of physical hubs staffed by experienced mental health workers has been operating since 14 September 2020. Since then, it has taken more than 3176 calls and helped more than 2000 people (as of 13 January 2021).

Please note: Head to Health was formerly known as HeadtoHelp.
