Improving influenza immunisation rates in children aged 6 months to 5 years

About this activity

Use the QI template below to improve influenza immunisation rates in children aged 6 months to 5 years.

Goal
To increase the influenza vaccination rates in children aged between 6 months and 5 years of age.
Measures
Using PenCAT, compare the percentage of children aged between 6 months and 5 years recorded as up to date with influenza vaccination at our start and end dates. The difference will be the measure of improvement.
Improvement ideas
  • Routinely offer flu vaccination at all childhood immunisation appointments.
  • Identify children eligible for NIP-funded immunisations and recall these children using your current reminder system.
  • Review the appointment book each day for children under 5 and flag for discussion about flu vaccination.
  • Brainstorm ideas amongst your practice team.
