A new, dedicated seniors exercise park has opened in Wyndham, supported by Wyndham City and the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) and funded through Gandel Philanthropy.

The Central Park Seniors Exercise Park in Hoppers Crossing has been designed specifically for older people, to help improve physical and mental wellbeing.

The Park features a range of outdoor equipment to help improve balance, strength, functional movement, joint range of motion and mobility. It’s free to use and is a great way to socialise and have some fun at the same time!

Limited spaces are now open to be part of a fitness research project in the park for Wyndham residents aged 65 or over, who are generally active but do not exercise regularly and do not use a walking frame.

The National Ageing Research Institute will be running the research project called ‘ENJOY’ to track the health and wellbeing of park users over time, to understand the impact that these facilities can have for seniors.

For the first 12 weeks of the trial, participants will get to attend two weekly sessions (one to one-and-a-half hours each) at the Central Park Seniors Exercise Park with a trained instructor. After those 12 weeks, participants will then have the option to continue exercise, with participation monitored for another six months.

Spaces are limited. To find out more and book your place, contact Patiz Levinger from the National Ageing Research Institute on 03 8387 2626 or enjoy@nari.edu.au.
