North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN) has developed a quality improvement toolkit to assist general practices boost screening and detection of hepatitis B among their patient cohort.
Eliminating hepatitis B as a public health concern in Victoria is a priority goal to address the growing burden of liver cancer.
Chronic hepatitis B remains undiagnosed in about one-third of people living with the condition, putting their health and lives at risk.
The toolkit, funded by the Victorian Department of Health, contains an easy-to-use template, education and training resources, and improvement ideas.

To further support the hepatitis B screening project, NWMPHN also produced:
-
- a promotional video targeted at GPs
- an education webinar: Hepatitis B screening – clinical and practical strategies for the general practice team.
