Melbourne’s latest Medicare Urgent Care Clinic has opened in Northcote.
Located at 42 Separation Street, the clinic is now open extended hours, seven days a week.
No appointment is needed. Patients can walk in and all services are bulk billed.
The clinic is ideal for conditions and injuries that need urgent attention but aren’t life threatening, including cuts, viral infections, or a sprained ankle.
Medicare Urgent Care Clinics provide the opportunity to see a GP or nurse for urgent care when your regular general practice is closed, or booked out. They also take pressure off busy hospital emergency departments.
Medicare Urgent Care Clinics have seen more than 2.4 million presentations since the first sites opened in June 2023, including more than 500,000 in Victoria.
“Data shows people often attend Medicare Urgent Care Clinics for respiratory infections, lacerations, coughs, urinary tract infections and abdominal pain,” said Christopher Carter, Chief Executive Officer of North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network.
“These are all conditions which should ideally be treated quickly, but which don’t necessarily require emergency care. The Northcote clinic will make bulk billed urgent GP and nurse services for these types of things more easily available to people in Melbourne’s inner north.
“Medicare Urgent Care Clinics are now a vital part of our health system, working alongside regular general practices, hospitals, and online services such as the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department, 1800MEDICARE and Nurse-on-Call.”
Northcote Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is commissioned by North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network with funding from the Australian Government.
