The co-author of the authoritative clinical guide to helping patients avoid severe side-effects of antidepressant withdrawal will present an exciting in-person workshop at North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network’s Docklands offices.

Australian-born and London-based psychiatrist Dr Mark Horowitz is the co-author of The Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines (Wiley 2024). Dr Mark Horowitz will present at NWMPHN’s Docklands offices on Thursday, 20 March 2025

Dr Horowitz was inspired to write the guidelines (with Professor David Taylor), after he tried to withdraw from his own antidepressant use, and experienced insomnia, panic attacks, dizziness, anxiety and suicidal thoughts.

He therefore represents a unique combination of clinical expertise and lived experience.

On Thursday, 20 March 2025, Dr Horowitz will present a 90-minute workshop for GPs and registrars, exploring practical strategies to support patients through tapering, minimise withdrawal risks, and implement best-practice deprescribing protocols in clinical settings.

The in-person event will also include a panel discussion. It will start at 6pm, in NWMPHN’s Wattlebird Room, Level 6, 737 Bourke Street, Docklands.

There will be a break and space available for participants who observe Ramadan.

The event is free, but places are limited. To secure your place, register here.
