Software Vendor Integration (SVI) supports medical practices who wish to participate in the MyMedicare program by introducing a range of MyMedicare registration web services. These web services will be made available to software developers to integrate into their existing Practice Management Software (PMS).
If web services are integrated into existing PMS, it will allow medical practice staff to better manage patient MyMedicare registrations within PMS, without having to access Health Professional Online Services (HPOS), making it easier for practices to focus on patient care and less on administration.
In August 2024, Services Australia released the first phase of the SVI initiative. Patient enquiry web services are now available to software developers, and provide functionality to:
- check pending registrations
- verify a patient’s eligibility
- confirm a patient’s participation in MyMedicare incentives
- confirm a patient’s registration is completed.
From 5 December 2025, Services Australia will release the second phase of the SVI initiative, when additional web services will be released to software developers to further expand functions available to manage MyMedicare registrations using their PMS.
The new web services will also enhance patient data security through stronger user authentication via Provider Digital Access (PRODA). The expanded functions include the ability to:
- create, edit, complete or pend patient registrations
- add, edit MyMedicare Incentives to patient registrations
- search and retrieve patient registration Summary information at an Organisation Site
- search and retrieve detailed patient information.
If you are interested in these services, contact your software provider to see if these services are or will be integrated into your PMS.
