GPs in the North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN) catchment can take advantage of a new Australian Government-funded education program for secondary stroke prevention.
The program comprises resources developed by the Quality Use of Medicines Alliance and co-designed with GPs, specialists, the Stroke Foundation and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
By accessing them, your practice will gain practical support to:
- understand current, evidence-based secondary stroke prevention recommendations, including summarised calls to action
- help patients better understand their condition and reduce their risk of another stroke
- implement the Stroke Foundation’s living guidelines using practical tools and resources.
The resources are free and include CPD-accredited outcomes.
Participating practices can take part in an evaluation process at the end of the year, to measure if or how the education resources have changed prescribing behaviours.
To access the Quality Use of Medicines Hub (QHUB), register for a free Medcast account here, or log in with your existing details here, and head to the secondary stroke prevention section.
If you have any questions about the resources, email quma-project@monash.edu
