Effective wound management is a complex, important and costly aspect of nursing that requires timely management for positive outcomes for the patient. Primary health clinicians play a key role in assessing and effectively managing a range of wound presentations.
The Wound Care Workshop for Primary Health provides clinicians with an evidence based framework to assess, manage a variety of wounds while understanding the importance of client centred education and care.

Learning outcomes:
- Assess, manage and apply various wound management techniques to a broad range of clients in the primary healthcare setting.
- Demonstrate knowledge of various wound management products and materials and the techniques to apply the appropriate product.
- Obtain a compliant wound swab culture using best practice methods
- Apply a broad knowledge of management strategies, client-centred education and provision of basic care and advice about wound management.
- Assess the need for and perform wound management in various settings and educate and assist clients in managing their wounds.
