Voluntary Assisted Dying Doctor Training Day - Parkville

Join colleagues for a dedicated day to complete the mandatory voluntary assisted dying (VAD) training. On completion, you will be able to provide assessments for your patients seeking VAD and participate in VAD to the level you feel comfortable.

This study day enables you to complete the mandated VAD training in the most effective way possible, with input from statewide services and medical colleagues.

What happens?

Complete the mandatory training

• A semi-structured time frame to work through the online modules
• Regular summary of key points of each module provided through the day
• Supported by the VAD care navigators

Meet with VAD clinicians

• Gain insight into the personal and professional experience of participating in VAD and get some tips on completing assessments

Meet and greet with statewide services

• Meet with members of the statewide VAD support team, including the Secretariat who review VAD assessments and applications, the pharmacy, the Review Board and the Navigator service

This event is open to any doctor in Victoria, who is a Fellow of a medical college, including newly admitted.

This activity can provide up to 9 CPD hours, including completion of pre-session modules.

GPs can easily self‑record their RACGP CPD hours for this training (7 hours Education Activities, 2 hours Reviewing Performance) by logging into myCPD Home and selecting the option to add an activity. Simply enter the activity details, upload any supporting evidence and your hours will be added to your CPD statement. Refer to the RACGP's CPD Program FAQs for more information.

• Explain the requirements of a coordinating or consulting doctor in providing VAD assessments 
• Describe the role of the VAD statewide services and where to get help and support in providing VAD assessments
