Essential skills training to recognise and respond to a young person experiencing mental health distress and at risk of harm.
- Around 9 lives are lost by suicide every day in Australia
- One in two young people are impacted by suicide by the time they turn 25
Wesley Lifeforce Suicide Awareness and Prevention training is suitable for all community members over the age of 18, including clinicians, counsellors, case managers, disability and other support services, education and youth services, frontline staff in all industries, parents, volunteers and members of the wider community. Informed by the latest research in suicide prevention, the training has been evaluated to be ‘robust and effective’ by the Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention (AISRAP) and is QIP Accredited by Suicide Prevention Australia (SPA).

Learning outcomes:
Workshop participants will increase confidence in their ability to:
- Identify signs that a young person in distress may be at risk of suicide
- Offer support, resources and a safe space for open discussion
- Ask if the young person is considering suicide
- Encourage help seeking behaviour
