Practice nurses play a central role in HIV care — from patient education to ongoing treatment support. This webinar in collaboration with the Sexual Health Society of Queensland highlights the power of shared care in general practice, featuring insights from two nurses, a First Nations Health Worker, and a person with lived experience.

Through concise presentations and a panel discussion, participants will explore how collaboration across disciplines and lived experience can improve engagement, reduce stigma, and strengthen care for people living with HIV

Learning outcomes:

On completion of this course and its components, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the role of practice nurses within shared HIV care models and how they contribute to continuity and quality of care in general practice.
  • Examine how collaboration with GPs, peer navigators, and people with lived experience enhances culturally safe and person-centred HIV care.
  • Implement practical strategies to strengthen nursing practice in HIV management, including communication, care coordination, and patient engagement.
