This interactive online course is designed to help pharmacy staff confidently navigate sensitive sexual and reproductive health concerns, especially in less private settings.

Delivered over two sessions by experienced pharmacists and sexual and reproductive health professionals, the program covers topics such as sexually transmissible infections, contraception and unintended pregnancy. Knowledge will be translated into practice through various case scenarios and by exploring strategies to improve access to sexual and reproductive health care across various pharmacy settings.

Learning outcomes:

  • Discuss effective, inclusive, and non-judgmental communication in sexual and reproductive health (SRH) care. 
  • Identify common sexual and reproductive health presentations, including contraception needs and symptoms of STIs/RTIs.
  • Examine counselling principles to support patients with sexual and reproductive health needs.
  • Apply legal, ethical, and cultural considerations relevant to sexual and reproductive health practice. 
  • Discuss referral pathways and pharmacy-based strategies to improve access to sexual and reproductive health services
