Each month, the PCA Community of Practice takes a deep dive into one of the National Palliative Care Standards, exploring its individual elements and how they can be embedded in everyday practice.
In each session, two members of our Community of Practice share service stories, lessons learned and practical examples of how they apply the featured standard in their work. These conversations aim to foster shared learning, spark ideas and strengthen our collective commitment to quality palliative care.
The National Palliative Care Standards for Specialist Services (Edition 5.1, 2024) promote a vision for compassionate and appropriate palliative care. The National Palliative Care Standards for All Health Professionals and Aged Care Services were developed in 2022 in recognition that palliative care occurs in many settings outside of specialist palliative care. The Palliative Care Self-Assessment tool can be used by services to self-assess against both sets of standards to create an action plan for continuous quality improvement.
