Primary care providers in the North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN) region should be aware that the CAREinMIND™ Wellbeing Support Service is moving to Medicare Mental Health Check In.

The service, commissioned by NWMPHN and delivered by Lifeline since 2017, will close on 24 June 2026.

People requiring low intensity wellbeing support will now be directed to the Medicare Mental Health Check In service. There will be no disruption to existing clients.

Providers and general practices need to update their resources for clients and patients to reflect this change.

Please note: only the Wellbeing Support Service, which provides low intensity phone and online counselling, is moving. Other CAREinMIND Mental Health Services are not impacted and continue to operate as normal, via referral from a health care professional.

GPs and other health and community service professionals can continue to refer patients to higher intensity CAREinMIND mental health services, including:

  • Targeted Psychological Support Services
  • Intensive Support Services
  • Suicide Prevention and Postvention Services.

NWMPHN thanks Lifeline for its collaboration in this transition, which allows it to focus on its core operations of crisis support.
