In collaboration with North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN), DPV Health is teaming up with primary care providers in the Hume local government area to improve access and equity for multicultural communities.

Called the Multicultural Care Project, this exciting new service connects practices with trained bilingual health navigators and a dedicated on-call project lead to help your work with patients and communities who speak languages other than English.

This is particularly valuable for communities containing Arabic, Turkish, Punjabi, Urdu and Hindi speakers.

The support package also includes free training for staff on cross-cultural communication, translations of relevant material, and new pathways through which to receive patient referrals.

The DPV project lead will help you develop and source resources, identify gaps, adapt existing tools, and develop culturally appropriate resources based on client or practice needs.

You will also gain unlimited access to the City of Hume Multicultural Service Directory, developed by DPV and funded by NWMPHN.

All training is RACGP approved and earns CPD points.

The staff and resources of the DPV Multicultural Care Project are only available to a limited number of general practices in Hume.

If you’d like your clinic to be one of these, don’t delay. Complete this quick Expression of Interest form or contact DPV health directly via mhc@dpvhealth.org.au or call Alaa Azzam on 0488 474 207.
