Supporting Child Mental Health (SCMH) is a new training course developed by authors of Mental Health First Aid™. This program aims to help adults better support primary school–aged children experiencing mental health challenges.
A research team from the University of Melbourne is evaluating this training program with multicultural parents and carers.
We invite you to take part in the research if you:
- are a parent or carer of a child aged 5 to 12 years
- speak a language other than English at home
- can read and write English well enough to complete online surveys
- agree to complete the SCMH training which involves 4 hours of self-paced eLearning and 4 hours of instructor-led group training via Zoom.
What’s involved
Participants will need to:
- complete the SCMH training
- complete three online surveys at the following times:
- before the eLearning (~30 minutes)
- after the group training (~25 minutes)
- three months after the group training (~15 minutes)
- Optionally, join a 1-hour focus group discussion via Zoom to share your thoughts about the program.
No preparation is needed – just bring your interest and willingness to learn!
As a thank you, participants will receive:
- free SCMH training (valued at approximately $450)
- a $30 gift card for each completed survey (3 × $30 = $90)
- an additional $50 gift card for participating in the focus group.
